Babaá

“Simple, timeless knits to be cherished forever”

Founded by Marta Bahillo in Spain in 2012, Babaá is a knitwear company that is very intentional about what they create and how. All yarns are 100% natural wool (not mixed with synthetic fibers) and they partner with local artisans and factories for every step of the process - from sheep to finishing touches, to ensure quality and provide full transparency.

Why we love Babaá

Family Run Factories

Based in Barcelona, the 2nd generation family run knitting factory ensures small batch quality for each and every sweater. Sweaters are made using a combination of hand stitching and Japanese knitting machines.

Custom Made Yarn

With their own flock using a process called Transhumance, Babaá’s sheep have very good lives. With their shepherds, they travel seasonally between pastures which is better for the sheep and for the environment.

Sustainable Dying Process

Their dyeing technique uses 60% less water, involves no bleaching and produces no toxic waste.

samples donated

All samples are donated to a refugee center in Madrid.

“We built the brand around the core value of sustainability, using only local and natural materials.”
